Christy Turner’s Servicing and Spares operation is vital to prolonging the longevity and reliability that our flaking mills, hammer mills, rolling mills and pulverizers are famous for the world over.
With recent world events making sourcing and logistics of spares and raw materials even more difficult, the decision was made to invest in a logistics professional to help veteran Spares & Purchasing Manager, Jeff Cook, ensure that we meet deadlines and production targets that are vital to our customers’ continuity.
There simply is no room for delays with precision engineering projects. We should know, we’ve been overseeing them for over 137 years.
The skill of market awareness and consequent adjustment of buying and selling decisions on a daily basis takes a variety of skills, and it was such skills that both Jeff and MD, Ian Butcher recognised in Darren Ryder when appointing him as Purchasing and Logistics Manager in April of this year.
Darren’s pedigree is varied, but his work with The Shaw Trust, The Department of Work & Pensions Job Entry initiative during a pandemic, as well as key roles in securing spares and organising logistics for the likes of John Grose and Hubbards refrigerated logistics products, has given him a keen sense of managing timing and deadlines. Using his experience to signpost and support both individuals and projects, Darren has a real drive to make sure the job gets done.
Darren tells us “I’m really excited to be part of the Christy Turner family. There’s a great team atmosphere throughout the operation, and I’m looking forward to working with Jeff and meeting day to day challenges.”
Away from work, Darren is a big rugby fan and enjoys socialising, particularly when red wine and cheese are involved!
We welcome Darren to the team "Darren’s considerable experience and adaptability will be an asset to a department that is essential to the smooth running of both the company and the huge numbers of milling equipment we support both in the field and in house via our Service & Spares facility"
